Castle of Ancy-le-Franc

Castle of Ancy-le-Franc was built in the 16th century according to the plans of the Italian architect Serlio, for Count Antoine de Clermont, a familiar face in the court of Henri II, and decorated by Burgundy artists in the style of the Italian Renaissance. Its vast collection of murals makes its a direct rival of Fontainebleau. The recently restored apartments are richly decorated and the English and French-style gardens are worth visiting.
